Privacy policy

The short version

Wing & Window is a publication, not a service. There are no accounts, no login, no newsletter and no advertising network. We collect as little as it is possible to collect while still knowing whether anyone is reading.

What we collect

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages get read and which recommendations get clicked. It records things like the pages visited, approximate location derived from IP, device type and referring site. We do not use it to identify individuals and we do not try to.

One custom event is recorded: when you click a product link, we log which product and which page it was clicked from. That is how we know which recommendations are useful. It contains nothing about you.

Google’s own handling of this data is described in Google’s privacy policy. You can block analytics with any standard browser setting or extension and the site will work exactly the same.

The contact form

If you write to us, we receive the name, email address and message you send, by email. We keep it only as long as needed to reply and to keep a record of any correction it prompted. It is never sold, shared or added to a mailing list, because there is no mailing list.

Server logs

Our host, Vercel, keeps standard request logs including IP addresses for security and operational purposes. That is ordinary web hosting rather than anything we do with the data.

What we do not collect

• No accounts, so no passwords and no profiles.
• No newsletter, so no mailing list.
• No advertising network and no ad-tech trackers.
• No payment information — we do not sell anything.
• No data sold or shared with third parties, ever.

Affiliate links

Product links route through our own /go/ address before reaching the retailer, so we can count clicks and keep destinations in one config file. The retailer — in practice Amazon — then applies its own tracking so it knows the referral came from us. What happens on Amazon is governed by Amazon’s privacy policy, not this one.

We do not receive any information about what you buy, only aggregate commission reporting. The full affiliate disclosure.

Cookies

The site itself sets no cookies. Google Analytics sets its own; blocking them costs you nothing here. Our /go/ redirect sets no cookie of its own.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Your rights

Depending on where you live you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information we hold. In practice the only personal information we are likely to hold is an email you sent us. Write to info@wingandwindow.com and we will deal with it.

Changes

If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the top of the page. We do not quietly rewrite it.
