What it is
A window-mounted saucer feeder. Rather than a small bottle stuck to the glass, it is a shallow polycarbonate dish with three feeding ports and Aspects’ HighView perch, held on by a suction-cup bracket. Eight ounces. It ships with a detachable ant moat, deck-mount instructions and hardware, and it accepts optional Nectar-Guard tips. Made in the USA, with a lifetime guarantee.
The hinged lid
This is the feature that decides the category, and it sounds smaller than it is.
Every other window feeder has to come off the glass to be filled. That means unmounting a feeder with nectar in it, filling it, and re-mounting it — over a floor, indoors or on a ledge, several times a week. It is fiddly enough that people do it less often than they should.
The Jewel Box’s lid hinges open in place. Refilling becomes: open, pour, close. On a feeder that needs its nectar changed every three to five days, that is the difference between a routine and an errand. The cadence.
Cleaning
The best of any window feeder here, for the same reason the HighView wins the main roundup: it is a shallow dish rather than a bottle. Open it and you have a bowl and three ports. No reservoir you cannot see into, no neck to negotiate.
The full wash still needs a port brush through each port — and more so if you have fitted the optional Nectar-Guard tips, which have a narrowing where residue collects.
Mounting, and the bracket that saves it
It mounts with a suction-cup bracket, and suction cups are the standing weakness of the format — they fail on residue and on heat cycling. Clean the glass with rubbing alcohol before mounting and re-check after the first hot week.
What sets this apart is that Aspects includes deck-mount instructions and hardware. If the window arrangement disappoints you, the feeder moves to a rail or post rather than becoming a spare part. That is a genuinely useful hedge to have in the box.
Pests
Bees: the saucer geometry already puts nectar below the ports and out of reach, and the feeder does not drip. If you want more, it takes optional Nectar-Guard tips, which is a rare upgrade path on a window feeder. Bee-proof feeders.
Ants: a detachable moat is included, though the usual window-feeder caveat applies — a moat protects a hanging wire, and a feeder flush against glass gives ants a route across the pane and frame that no moat covers. Ants.
Who should not buy this
- Anyone who wants glass at close range. Polycarbonate hazes, and on a feeder you view from two feet away you will notice. The tempered-glass Perky-Pet 455-2 holds 14 oz.
- Anyone needing more than three ports. Eight ounces and three ports is a second feeder, not a main one.
- Anyone expecting fitted bee guards. The Nectar-Guard tips are an optional extra here, not standard.
- Anyone with a hot south-facing window. Heat cycling breaks suction cups. Use the deck-mount hardware instead.
Where it fits
At a window you sit near, as the second feeder in a yard that already has a main one elsewhere. That is the correct role for any window feeder, and the Jewel Box is the one least likely to make you regret putting a feeder somewhere you have to look at it every day. The window feeder roundup.

The best cleaning story of any window feeder here. The hinged lid opens for filling without unmounting anything, and the body is a shallow dish rather than a bottle — so the weekly wash is one bowl and three ports, not a reservoir you cannot see into.

The bottle twists off and the flower ports pull out with a gentle tug, so you reach every surface. Perky-Pet's own guidance is to clean it at least once a week with a mild soap and water solution, and more often in a very warm climate.

Perky-Pet's own description is the selling point: it comes apart completely. Detachable perches and removable ports mean nothing is sealed shut, which matters more on a window feeder than anywhere else — it is at eye level, so a grubby one is impossible to ignore.

No — the lid is hinged and opens in place. That is the main reason it beats other window feeders, because refilling happens every few days.
