Who makes the best hummingbird feeders?
Every brand's listing photo looks the same. Four checks separate the companies that stand behind a feeder from the ones that shipped it.

Aspects, on the four things you can actually check. It publishes real specifications, sells the parts and accessories separately, backs everything with a lifetime guarantee and manufactures in the USA. Perky-Pet has the widest range and the best cheap glass, and publishes model-level compatibility so precisely that it tells you which feeders its own bee guards will not fit. First Nature is unbeatable on price. The brands to avoid are the ones with no product page anywhere outside a marketplace listing.

How we judged a brand rather than a feeder
Everywhere else on this site we rank individual products. This page asks a different question, because “who makes the best hummingbird feeders” is a question about which company to trust when you cannot inspect the thing in person.
Four checks, all of which you can do yourself from a phone before buying.
- Does it publish a real specification? Capacity, port count, materials, dimensions, and above all how the feeder comes apart. Not adjectives — numbers.
- Can you buy replacement parts? Feeders die from one cracked flower port or one perished gasket. A brand that sells the part is a brand whose feeder lasts.
- What is the warranty, in writing?
- Where is it made, and does the brand say so? Not a quality guarantee in itself, but a company willing to state it is a company you can find.
Notice what is not on that list: price, looks, and how many ports it has. Those are product questions and they belong on the product pages.
Aspects
The brand we recommend most often on this site, and it wins on all four checks at once.
Aspects publishes item numbers and specifications for each feeder, manufactures in the USA, and backs its products with a lifetime guarantee — stated on the Super Dome, the HummZinger Dome and the HummBlossom alike. It sells the ecosystem around the feeders as separate products too: Nectar Guard Tips for bees, domes in two sizes, accessory kits. That is what “you can still fix this in five years” looks like commercially.
The HummZinger line is also the clearest expression of the one design idea this whole site argues for: a two-part saucer with the ant moat molded into the lid, which comes apart in one movement. The cost is the obvious downside — Aspects feeders are several times the price of the cheap end.
Perky-Pet
The widest range by a distance, and better on documentation than its mass-market position would suggest.
Perky-Pet publishes model numbers, dimensions, port counts and — the detail we rate most — explicit disassembly statements. Its listings tell you not just that a feeder cleans easily but that the base pulls apart and the feeding ports come out. It sells replacement parts including bee guards, and it publishes the exact list of models those guards fit. It even publishes, on its own site, the caveat that they will not fit other models. A company that documents where its accessory fails is a company documenting honestly.
Perky-Pet is also where the best cheap glass lives — the Pinch-Waist gives you glass, a built-in ant moat and bee guards for less than most bare feeders. Against it: the range is enormous and uneven, quality varies across it, and a lot of the decorative models are styling exercises on the same mechanism.
More Birds
Sold through Perky-Pet’s own site, which is the clearest signal of how closely the two lines sit. More Birds leans decorative — glass bottles in colored finishes, vintage styling — with the Bird Health+ range as its main line.
Documentation is decent and parts exist. The Ruby is genuinely good value: glass, four bee-guard ports, five perches and a built-in moat at a budget price, reviewed in our More Birds Ruby review. The brand’s weakness is that its strongest products are hard to tell apart from its weakest in a listing photo.
First Nature
A very small range, very cheap, and better than it has any right to be at the price. First Nature states its feeder is made in America. The 3051 has ten ports, a wide-mouth reservoir and a base that twists into two pieces, which is why it is our budget pick rather than merely the cheapest thing available.
What you give up is choice, finish and any real accessory ecosystem. There is no dome, no bee guard, no parts catalogue to speak of. It is a good feeder sold plainly, and the head-to-head against the Aspects is in HummZinger HighView vs First Nature 3051.
Nature’s Way
The decorative end, done with better documentation than decorative usually gets. Nature’s Way publishes capacities, port counts, materials and dimensions, states when all parts are dishwasher safe, and includes an ant moat with several models rather than selling it separately.
The trade-off is inherent to the category: antique and textured glass looks lovely and makes it harder to see the nectar level, and decorative metalwork is another surface to keep clean. Good brand, specific taste.
Birds Choice
Mostly accessories in our context, and on this site they earn a mention for one reason: Birds Choice prints that its feeder dome is not intended as a squirrel baffle or deterrent.
That is a sentence that costs a company sales. Plenty of competitors put “rain guard / squirrel baffle” in the same 10-inch product title and let the buyer find out. Honest labeling about what a product does not do is the best single predictor we have found of whether the rest of a spec sheet is trustworthy.
The camera brands are a different business
Birdfy and Bird Buddy are not really feeder companies; they are consumer-electronics companies that ship a feeder as the housing. Judge them on entirely different criteria — what the subscription gates, what is in the box, whether the video mode in the advertisement is the one you get for free — and expect the feeder itself to be ordinary. Start with camera feeders without a subscription and Birdfy vs Bird Buddy.
The parts test, run on a real failure
Here is how the four checks play out in practice, because it is not abstract.
A hummingbird feeder almost never dies as a unit. It dies when one flower port splits, or a perch snaps, or a base gasket perishes and the thing starts dripping. At that moment your feeder is worth either five dollars and a week’s wait, or nothing at all, and which one depends entirely on a decision the manufacturer made years before you bought it.
Aspects sells Nectar Guard Tips, domes and accessory kits as standalone products, so its feeders are repairable by design. Perky-Pet sells replacement bee guards and publishes which models they fit. Nature’s Way parts are findable. A marketplace house brand sells one SKU, once, and there is nothing to order — so a two-dollar failure throws away the whole feeder.
That is the entire case for caring about the maker on a product this cheap, and it is the same reasoning behind our hummingbird feeder parts guide.
What a lifetime guarantee is actually worth
Aspects puts a lifetime guarantee on its feeders, its domes and the HummBlossom alike, and it is the single most-cited reason people pay three times the price of a budget feeder. It is worth being precise about what it covers.
Aspects describes it as covering the function of the item against manufacturer defects. That is a defect warranty, not an indestructibility promise. It is not going to replace a feeder you dropped on a patio, and it is not a substitute for buying the right size or the right shape in the first place.
What it does tell you is something about the company’s own expectations. A business selling a polycarbonate dish for thirty-five dollars with an open-ended defect guarantee has priced in the assumption that it will rarely be claimed, which is a statement about the molding and the material that no marketing copy can make as credibly. Compare that with the one-year limited warranty typical at the budget end, and the gap is roughly the gap in price.
Does brand matter on a fifteen dollar feeder?
More than on an expensive one, actually. On a $35 Aspects feeder you are buying a guarantee and a design. On a $15 feeder you are buying a plastic base, four flower ports and a gasket — and the entire difference between a good one and a bad one is whether those parts were specified, whether they come apart, and whether you can replace the one that breaks.
That is exactly the ground the branded budget feeders win on. The First Nature 3051 and the Perky-Pet Pinch-Waist cost the same as the unbranded listings beside them and tell you what you are getting. There is no saving to be had by going anonymous, only information to lose. The cheap end of the market, sorted properly, is in the best budget hummingbird feeders.

What we’d buy
1. Aspects - best overall brand

- Type
- Saucer (dish)
- Capacity
- 12 oz
- Feeding ports
- 4
- Material
- Polycarbonate, metal hanger
- Dimensions
- 7.75" x 7.75" x 1.75"
- Ant moat
- Built in
- Perch
- Raised wraparound perch
- Mounting
- Hang or post mount
Our score: 9.2/10 — an editorial rating, not a customer rating or a test result.
Cleaning access
Two parts. The cover lifts off the base with no tools and no threads to cross, and the whole dish is one open bowl — a two-minute wash with a brush and hot water, which is exactly the cadence a nectar feeder needs. The moat is part of the lid, so there is no separate accessory to lose or forget to refill.
What works
- Saucer design puts nectar below the ports, so it does not drip as the air inside warms
- Ant moat is integral to the lid rather than a separate hanging accessory
- Opens to a single shallow bowl — the easiest shape in the category to scrub
- Raised ports shed rain, which keeps the nectar from being diluted
What doesn’t
- 12 oz is small for a busy yard
- Polycarbonate clouds over several seasons in a way glass does not
- No bee-excluding port tips fitted — that is the Ultra's feature, not the HighView's
Specifications from Duncraft — Aspects High View HummZinger and Amazon — Aspects HummZinger HighView 12 oz. We have not handled this feeder — here is what we did instead.
2. Perky-Pet - widest range
Perky-Pet Pinch-Waist Glass 16 oz (210PB)
Sixteen ounces of glass with both defenses already fitted — a moat in the lid and a flower-shaped bee guard at every port — for the price of a bare feeder.

- Type
- Glass bottle
- Capacity
- 16 oz
- Feeding ports
- 4, each with a perch
- Ant moat
- Built in — fill the top of the lid with water
- Bee guards
- Built in, flower-shaped, one per port
- Material
- Hardened glass, plastic
- Dimensions
- 7.1"H
- Model
- 210PB
Our score: 8.0/10 — an editorial rating, not a customer rating or a test result.
Cleaning access
Perky-Pet states the feeder disassembles so the base, bottle and lid separate, and that the base pulls apart so the feeding ports come out. The wide mouth is the other half of it — a bottle brush reaches the whole reservoir. Perky-Pet's own instruction is to clean at least weekly, and more often in hot weather.
What works
- Ant moat and bee guards both built in, not sold separately
- Ports come out of the base, so they can genuinely be cleaned
- Glass reservoir at a budget-feeder price
- A perch at each of the four ports
What doesn’t
- The moat is a shallow well in the lid — it evaporates fast and needs topping up
- Bottle feeder, so the reservoir sits above the ports and can drip
- 16 oz is more than a quiet yard will finish in three days
- The bright red plastic top and base will fade over seasons outdoors

3. First Nature - best on price
First Nature 3051 16 oz
Ten ports, a wide-mouth reservoir and a base that twists into two pieces — the cheapest feeder in the category that is genuinely easy to clean, which is the only reason it is here.

- Type
- Inverted bottle
- Capacity
- 16 oz
- Feeding ports
- 10
- Material
- Plastic
- Base
- Patented two-part base, twists apart
- Reservoir
- Wide-mouth
- Ant moat
- Built into the base
- Dishwasher
- Not dishwasher safe — warm soapy water
Our score: 8.4/10 — an editorial rating, not a customer rating or a test result.
Cleaning access
Better than the price suggests. The reservoir mouth is wide enough to take a bottle brush without contortions, and the base twists into two pieces so you can reach the underside of the ports — the spot that grows mold first on a cheap bottle feeder. First Nature specifies warm soapy water, not the dishwasher.
What works
- Wide-mouth reservoir takes a standard bottle brush, unlike most budget bottle feeders
- Two-part base opens up the port undersides, which is where mold starts
- Ten ports and an integrated ant moat at the bottom of the category's price range
What doesn’t
- It is an inverted bottle, so it can drip as trapped air warms and pushes nectar out
- Not dishwasher safe, and the thin plastic would not enjoy a hot wash anyway
- Fill all 16 oz in a quiet yard and you will pour most of it away
Specifications from Oak Ridge Stores — First Nature FN3051. We have not handled this feeder — here is what we did instead.
4. Nature's Way - best decorative
Nature's Way Dewdrop Column 23 oz
Six ports and a continuous perch ring on a 23 oz column, with the ant moat supplied in the box rather than left as your problem.

- Type
- Glass gravity bottle
- Capacity
- 23 oz
- Feeding ports
- 6, flexible flower-shaped
- Perch
- Continuous ring
- Ant moat
- Included, matching color
- Material
- Antique glass, UV-stabilized pewter plastic base, steel hanger
- Dimensions
- 9"H x 6.35"W x 6.35"D
- Base
- Fully disassembles, removable flower ports
Our score: 7.9/10 — an editorial rating, not a customer rating or a test result.
Cleaning access
Nature's Way states the base fully disassembles and the flower ports are removable, which is the specification that matters most on a six-port feeder — six ports is six more places for mold if they do not come out. The wide-mouth bottle takes a brush.
What works
- Six ports and a full perch ring suit a yard with real traffic
- Ant moat supplied rather than sold as an accessory
- Ports are removable, so all six can actually be cleaned
- UV-stabilized base and steel hanger will not rust
What doesn’t
- 23 oz will be thrown away half full in most yards
- The moat is a separate piece, and separate pieces get lost
- Antique glass obscures the nectar level
- Six ports on a gravity bottle is a lot of seal to keep honest

What we’d skip
Marketplace house brands with no product page outside the listing
The largest single group of hummingbird feeders for sale is from sellers whose entire public existence is one marketplace storefront. There is no website, no spec sheet, no model number that resolves anywhere, and no warranty you could claim against. Sometimes the feeder is fine. The problem is that you cannot check before buying, and you cannot check afterwards either - when a flower port cracks in year two there is nothing to order, so the whole feeder goes in the bin. Every brand named on this page fails that test in at most one respect. The house brands fail it in all of them at once.
Common questions
Frequently asked
Who makes the best hummingbird feeders?
Aspects, on the criteria you can verify before buying: published specifications, parts and accessories sold separately, a lifetime guarantee and US manufacture. Perky-Pet is the best mass-market brand and has the strongest cheap glass; First Nature is the best on price alone.
Are Perky-Pet and More Birds related?
Perky-Pet sells More Birds products directly on its own website, which is the clearest public link between the two lines. We have not tried to characterize the corporate structure beyond what is visible there.
Which hummingbird feeder brands are made in the USA?
Aspects states it manufactures in the USA and Birds Choice states the same for its domes; First Nature states its feeder is made in America; Hummer Hearth states its heater is made in the USA. Other brands we cover make no published manufacturing claim we could verify. More detail in the best American-made feeders.
Is it worth paying more for a brand-name hummingbird feeder?
It is worth paying for a named one, which is not the same as paying more. The branded budget feeders cost about what the anonymous listings cost and come with published specifications, replaceable parts and someone to complain to.
